About Pixiu Mala Hongtang

Pixiu Mala Hongtang is a hot pot in Los Angeles, California. It is listed at 425 S Western Ave Ste E, Los Angeles, CA 90020, which places it among the local businesses of Los Angeles that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Los Angeles; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–9 pm. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (213) 465-5840. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Its Google rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 140 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Los Angeles is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Los Angeles is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The lady was very rude. She literally shouted at us just because we wanted to paid separately. It seems like there weren’t enough staff, and I don’t understand why she was mad at us just because she was busy. We had to wait about 40 minutes for our foods. She didn’t listen to us or even try to understand what we were saying. There was also another man working there, and he was actually nice and friendly. The food itself was really good too, but honestly, the experience completely ruined my mood and made it hard to even enjoy the food. If you’re not willing to provide even basic customer service, I would suggest hiring at least one more staff to help.

Pixiu has been my favourite mala hongtang place ever since I discovered it. As a vegetarian I struggle to find good food places in Korea-town and this place did not disappoint. I’ve been a regular here now, the owner is so kind. For someone who has a spicy Indian palette like me, I would recommend to make your own malatang and get the soup with the spice level 2. It’s heaven in a bowl. Everyone I brought to this place loved it too. Especially my mother who was visiting from India. She said it’s a unique dish and something so well cooked you feel like you’re home.

This restaurant serves delicious food with a scoop-and-weigh system. They offer beef and lamb, priced at $3.39 per pound. You can choose between dry stir-fried or soupy Malatang, with various spice levels available. If you're used to spicy food, I suggest opting for the highest spice level since the spiciness is moderate by American standards. The taste is flavorful and well-balanced, with the dry stir-fried option having a slight sweetness.

This place brings Korean and Chinese style mala together. You can pick anything from the bar and they’ll cook it for you. Choose between stir-fried and soup options! There are a lot of options, both vegetables, noodles and meaty stuff. Price based on weight and you can choose spicy level. I totally recommend ordering sides too because they’re really good. Everything was cooked fresh and seasoned to the right amount. It’s one of the not many restaurants that didn’t put too much salt! SUPER DELICIOUS!!
